I had ear surgery on January 28th. I had a benign cyst removed called a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholesteatoma" target="_blank">Cholesteatoma</a>. I had no idea that I had a growing cyst in ear...the only problem I had was hearing loss. It was with the coaxing from my husband that the cyst was finally diagnosed. A year ago, he insisted that I get a hearing test done. Guess he was tired of me saying, "Pardon me??" every other sentence. So I finally succumbed to the idea of getting a hearing aid and made the appointment at Costco to get my hearing tested. It was the Costco dude that determined that something was wrong in my middle ear and that I needed a more thorough check up with a specialist. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As the months went on and appointments made, I finally got to see the ENT specialist in North Vancouver, B.C. Canada. An amazing doctor and surgeon....one of the best!! The surgery was about 4 hours long. He removed the invasive cyst and a did a bunch of reconstruction of my inner ear. I am sporting a couple of titanium implants (to replace damaged bones), my ear canal is rebuilt from cartilage taken from my outer ear. My inner ear is plugged full of organic plant matter which will be removed on March 12. I joked that I was going to smell like a rotten brussel sprout field...thankfully that's not the case so far!! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So with recovery, comes reduced activity. I'm not allowed to do anything strenuous -- no exercise, no running, no heavy lifting. I am a very active person by nature...so this "laying low" is challenging!! </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But thankfully, I can sew!! So that's what I've been doing! I've been having a blast and the sewing bug has kicked in full gear! </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a tunic top for my daughter. I wanted something fresh and Springy! </div>

<br />
Nex are some denim jeggings. So sad as these are just too tight! I should have read the pattern more closely -- fabric should be the super stretch denim, which these are not. In hindsight I should have gone up a couple of sizes. <br />
Pattern: <a href="https://www.evernote.com/shard/s164/res/b79eb616-7714-4206-b3a2-0cbdaed5916d/04_2011-29.png?search=jeggings&resizeSmall&width=1024" target="_blank">Ottobre Fall 2011</a><br />

<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With these jeggings I decided to add some fancy stitching to the back pockets. I just marked and freestyled and stitched using the triple stitch on my machine. Love how they turned out! </div>

I also made a top for me! I've been wanting to make this Jalie top for quite awhile. After reading a bunch of pattern reviews I knew that I would have to do a broad shoulder adjustment and a bicep adjustment. So glad I did...the fit is perfect! </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, I owe you (whoever reads this blog), an apology. I'm been completely MIA since the Summer. I have no excuses really....just busy with this thing called life. Summer is always a busy time on the farm and especially busy at the end when I am busy canning and preserving food for the winter. I always feel somewhat like a squirrel....gathering and storing food for my family for the months ahead. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I usually grow surreal amounts of zucchini in my garden. This puts the big whales to perfect use!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Zucchini relish in the pints and zucchini salsa in the quarts. I think we only have a couple salsa jars left. We eat a lot of salsa!!</div>

I love the old, vintage feel of this nightgown. It makes me happy and best of all my daughter, Jenelle, loves it!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--KUPkxvz7iA/VOKdrERf8JI/AAAAAAAADqY/O7gbymAx9FI/s1600/IMG_4353.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--KUPkxvz7iA/VOKdrERf8JI/AAAAAAAADqY/O7gbymAx9FI/s1600/IMG_4353.JPG" height="640" width="299" /></a></div>
<br />
A pretty and feminine pajama set for me!!<br />
PATTERN: Women's Ottobre Winter 2011<br />
FABRIC: Ivory cotton eyelet<br />
SIZE: 38<br />
I love this set! I'm so tired of wearing tattered tank tops to bed. I am in desperate need of pajamas. This fits the bill perfectly. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c23maHX8f7w/VOKdvapY9UI/AAAAAAAADqo/ytgTzvtM-9I/s1600/IMG_4355.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c23maHX8f7w/VOKdvapY9UI/AAAAAAAADqo/ytgTzvtM-9I/s1600/IMG_4355.JPG" height="640" width="350" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Look how pretty the bodice is! Love the picot elastic trim peeking out of the top of the bodice and the hem line. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ovOwJXTqzWY/VOKeCfUPWkI/AAAAAAAADq0/higeSwVMtDI/s1600/IMG_4356.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ovOwJXTqzWY/VOKeCfUPWkI/AAAAAAAADq0/higeSwVMtDI/s1600/IMG_4356.JPG" height="302" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The shorts are also from the Women's 2011 issue. I added 3" to the hem length as I felt they were a tad too short for my liking. Again...the picot trim elastic is a nice touch. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ApC_tf4DXVY/VOKeBgDKQmI/AAAAAAAADqw/1V6GDccnIhQ/s1600/IMG_4357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ApC_tf4DXVY/VOKeBgDKQmI/AAAAAAAADqw/1V6GDccnIhQ/s1600/IMG_4357.JPG" height="483" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Another set of pj shorts. Same as above, but with more added length to the hem. Love these.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r6GBE1UPSxI/VOKeGhTorTI/AAAAAAAADrA/zHQebkD55eE/s1600/IMG_4358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r6GBE1UPSxI/VOKeGhTorTI/AAAAAAAADrA/zHQebkD55eE/s1600/IMG_4358.JPG" height="489" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added grommets instead of doing buttonholes for the tie. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gUNaUL_1YJs/VOKgkd_HfmI/AAAAAAAADr0/NbCcH0OsbvM/s1600/IMG_4359.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gUNaUL_1YJs/VOKgkd_HfmI/AAAAAAAADr0/NbCcH0OsbvM/s1600/IMG_4359.JPG" height="515" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Yet another pair of pj shorts. These are for my oldest daughter. These are sewn from the same Ottobre pattern, but with no modifications. See how short these suckers are! Too short in my opinion. Basically covers her butt. Eeeeekkkk.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7zpdjpQmgDA/VOKee1cbBlI/AAAAAAAADrI/RKO_S1PbEKU/s1600/IMG_4360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7zpdjpQmgDA/VOKee1cbBlI/AAAAAAAADrI/RKO_S1PbEKU/s1600/IMG_4360.JPG" height="440" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Next up a pj set for my youngest son, Matthew.<br />
PATTERN for SHIRT: Ottobre 2008 Raglan<br />
SIZE: 158<br />
PATTERN for SHORTS: Kwik Sew for Children Book. Modified shorts. I eliminated the side seam so the pattern piece is just one piece instead of two pieces. SIZE: XL<br />
FABRIC: Cotton interlock<br />
<br />
I used my Babylock Coverstitch machine in reverse to get the top coverstitch look. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DN6GeMBUKfs/VOKem2nTOWI/AAAAAAAADrY/V3K8sryYV5o/s1600/IMG_4361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DN6GeMBUKfs/VOKem2nTOWI/AAAAAAAADrY/V3K8sryYV5o/s1600/IMG_4361.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Had a bit of the print left over so I made Matthew a pair of underwear. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
PATTERN: Ottobre Winter 2004 long Johns - modified. I eliminated the back (butt) piece so the pattern is only two pieces. I also eliminated the top casing allowance and used exposed elastic instead. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3psUO786d3c/VOKerbl4TPI/AAAAAAAADrg/AcI49tChys4/s1600/IMG_4363.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3psUO786d3c/VOKerbl4TPI/AAAAAAAADrg/AcI49tChys4/s1600/IMG_4363.JPG" height="492" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed the picture overload! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time......happy sewing!</div>

<br />Cherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09560134292079399292noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-379144974989006165.post-72743504409974067332014-08-02T12:54:00.000-07:002014-08-02T12:54:27.470-07:00Kid's Clothes Week - my contribution.<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I decided to challenge myself and sign up for the <a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/" target="_blank">July 2014 Kid's Clothing Week challenge</a>. As if life hasn't been busy enough -- LOL. But I love to sew and thought it would be a good excuse to avoid all the other beckoning, mundane tasks on the endless to-do list! Mama needs a little sewing therapy time too! </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Everything I sewed up is for my youngest Jenelle. First thing I sewed up was the<a href="http://oliverands.com/oliver-and-s-patterns/OLV-OS024SE.html" target="_blank"> Oliver + S Seashore Sundress. </a> It's been on my to-do list well...since forever. I used a stretch woven that been curing in my stash. I sewed this up in a size 10 and used bright pink solid for the facings and the side pocket.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rrTIpMtxfdo/U9023YhUvTI/AAAAAAAADEY/r5AC5WNSPqI/s1600/IMG_4210.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rrTIpMtxfdo/U9023YhUvTI/AAAAAAAADEY/r5AC5WNSPqI/s1600/IMG_4210.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a close-up of the pink fabric peeking out of the side pocket. I adore the little pocket...so cute!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73B8pPX2wJc/U902Nl_a6oI/AAAAAAAADD4/TM8W_r1y3go/s1600/IMG_4201.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73B8pPX2wJc/U902Nl_a6oI/AAAAAAAADD4/TM8W_r1y3go/s1600/IMG_4201.JPG" height="320" width="316" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next thing I made was the <a href="http://citronille.fr/produit.php?id_produit=120#pid_120" target="_blank">Citronille Apolline </a>blouse. This is another pattern that I had sitting and hadn't sewn up. Man, do I regret that! I absolutely adore this blouse -- it is perfect in every way! The red shorts are the <a href="http://kwiksew.mccall.com/k3498-products-20059.php?page_id=3348" target="_blank">Kwik Sew 3498 yoga pants </a>cut into shorts length. Very comfy and easy to wear.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TI819m8s-tY/U902aJmBUyI/AAAAAAAADEA/bugkgcrcpcM/s1600/IMG_4204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TI819m8s-tY/U902aJmBUyI/AAAAAAAADEA/bugkgcrcpcM/s1600/IMG_4204.JPG" height="640" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Here is a back view -- I didn't extend buttons all down the back like the pattern showed. I used two green snaps that I had on the back yoke. I've had this fabric sitting in my stash for over 10 years. I had bought it for my first daughter Kristy and haven't had the strength to sew it up. But I know Kristy would want me to use it and you know, it feels good to see it sewn up. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--AKnEdqqxXU/U902JglrtwI/AAAAAAAADDo/BdpzAc7HpFI/s1600/IMG_4194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--AKnEdqqxXU/U902JglrtwI/AAAAAAAADDo/BdpzAc7HpFI/s1600/IMG_4194.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Because I was so happy with the Citronille top I made another one! Oh my...this top is probably my favorite! I've been hoarding this blue dainty floral for years. It's the perfect fabric for this vintage style of blouse.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IoYqyfJuKoo/U9026UWSTaI/AAAAAAAADEo/-KCOkjqAPlM/s1600/IMG_4214.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IoYqyfJuKoo/U9026UWSTaI/AAAAAAAADEo/-KCOkjqAPlM/s1600/IMG_4214.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This time I decided to follow the pattern precisely and have the buttons run fully down the back. It really makes to the blouse feel even more old fashioned.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kGOMN2WPcQc/U902MT6UeNI/AAAAAAAADDw/CShDIWJ1htE/s1600/IMG_4199.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kGOMN2WPcQc/U902MT6UeNI/AAAAAAAADDw/CShDIWJ1htE/s1600/IMG_4199.JPG" height="640" width="404" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then sewed up a pair of shorts to go with the blouse. I used the<a href="http://oliverands.com/oliver-and-s-patterns/OLV-OS025CP.html" target="_blank"> Oliver + S picnic shorts pattern</a>. Size 10. The have an elastic waist back which I used button-hole elastic.</div>
These sewed up flawlessly...I mean aren't these the cutest shorts ever!! Love the style and look...and they go perfectly with the blouse.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0VPQfqCuWNc/U9024BNKvrI/AAAAAAAADEg/-xmIUIAI0kI/s1600/IMG_4216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0VPQfqCuWNc/U9024BNKvrI/AAAAAAAADEg/-xmIUIAI0kI/s1600/IMG_4216.JPG" height="640" width="594" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the whole outfit on my precious! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vSCzDut_cFg/U903Bpku1GI/AAAAAAAADEw/34c-dWsTdlA/s1600/IMG_4222.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vSCzDut_cFg/U903Bpku1GI/AAAAAAAADEw/34c-dWsTdlA/s1600/IMG_4222.JPG" height="640" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh how I love this girl of mine!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HhsD82rKWf8/U91AtsYD6lI/AAAAAAAADFA/NXqNc1QK8KY/s1600/IMG_4181.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HhsD82rKWf8/U91AtsYD6lI/AAAAAAAADFA/NXqNc1QK8KY/s1600/IMG_4181.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So even though I wished I could have sewn up more I'm thrilled with Jenelle's new Summer pieces to add to her wardrobe!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by my little sewing corner and until next time......happy sewing!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This post is not really sewing related...though I end with a sew and show.</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This post is a little more personal about me and my friend, Suzanne, who holds a very place in my heart. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I met Suzanne about 12 years ago. We didn't meet in person. We met on an online sewing forum. Her user name was Blueberryfarm. She had the words..."child of the King" under her username. I felt an immediate connection to her....the farm part and the God part. I would respond to her posts and she responded to mine. We were friends from the get go and emailed privately...sharing our love for sewing with each other and chatting about our day-to-day lives too.</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We would often talk about meeting in person...but the distance kept us from meeting since I was Canada and she in California. Little did I realize that we would meet but under extreme tragedy and loss.</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
July 6th, 2004 my daughter was taken from this earth to forever be with the Lord. She was killed in a farm related accident. My whole world shattered in an instant. The whole comprehension of loss isn't understood or even realized. I have very vague memories of the weeks that followed. But I do remember Suzanne. She came. She flew up for the funeral. She sat with me. She cried with me. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In August we took our family on a road trip and drove to California and spent time with Suzanne and her sweet family. She is such a comfort and joy to me and I am so blessed to have her in my life. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Over the years, Suz and I fly back and forth to each others homes. I love our visits. I love our conversations and I love our crafting time. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Suz and her daughter came up to my place a couple of weeks ago. It was pure bliss to spend time together again. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Suzanne on the left and me on the right</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One of the things we did was paint a small little table with milk paint. Suzanne is such an amazing crafter. She recently started buying used furniture and painting them and re-selling the them. All her pieces are amazing works of art! So she shared her tips and expertise with me. I'm thrilled with this little table. It started out just a honey wood stain. We used <a href="http://missmustardseed.com/2012/07/say-hello-to-lucketts-green/">Miss Mustard Seed Lucketts Green</a>. I didn't antique it though...because it was covered in a thick clear lacquer and wouldn't antique well.</div>

Another thing we did was sew our "sister" skirts. Simple yoga waistband, A-line, self-drafted skirts. It was so much fun sewing with Suzanne.</div>

I guess I'm getting old and am totally out of the loop when it comes to current fashion trends. I honestly had no idea that big kids were wearing big 'ol baby sleepers for pajamas. Really??<br />
<br />
My 12 year old daughter is in grade 7..the final grade in our elementary school. One of the perks of being in grade 7 is going to camp. She had asked me to sew her up a pj onsie to take to camp. Apparently every single tween/teen on the entire planet wears big kid sleepes now....everyone, except her. LOL <br />
<br />
Anyhow, the camp date got pushed up and I was under strict deadline. I had one afternoon to whip this sucker out. Luckily Jalie came to the rescue and with all their patterns this was easy to sew and complete in a time crunch. I even managed to line up my stripes pretty good. Yeah!!<br />
<br />
Pattern: <a href="http://www.jalie.com/jalie3244-footed-pyjama-sewing-patterns.html">Jalie 3244</a> Pajama onsie<br />

Our dog, Sam, has to check out the new sleeper too! <br />

Eeekkk....<br />
<br />
Life has been busy on the farm and on the home front. Once Easter was finished it then became field work time. Spring field work is such a busy and hectic time. It is when we have to take our first grass cutting off and then prepare some of our fields for planting. I always joke...I become the Grass Widow..as I hardly see my husband. He works literally 15-18 hour days for about 10 days. I'm on food duty, along with my Sister-in-Law. So we are all pretty busy. I'm thankful though, 'cause everything is planted and growing, my own veggie garden is in and my flower beds/ tubs are looking good! Yeah! Feels good!<br />
<br />
We've been having such wonderful warm weather which meant bringing out the kids' Summer clothes. Much to my dismay and horror, Jenelle literally had NO shorts to wear! She is only 6 years old but is very tall and big for her age. Of all my kids, she has grown the fastest! It's hard as she's my baby and isn't staying a baby. <br />
<br />
Anyhow, because she still is only 6 (but the size of a 9 year old), I still want her to wear age appropriate clothes. I won't let my girls wear short shorts...just my personal preference. In RTW, seems all the shorts offered are short-shorts in her size range! So I got busy and started sewing.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shorts #1</b></span><br />
Pattern: <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/124180004/bg-originals-the-summer-sailors-pdf">The Summer Sailors</a><br />
Designer: Brownie-Goose Designs<br />
Size: 10<br />
Fabric: Cotton woven with red bias tape and cute anchor embossed buttons.<br />
<br />
This is a super cute pattern, easy to whip together. I was pleased that I was able to line up my stripes on the waistband and the hem band as they are cut separately. End result is cute but these shorts are too small on my girl. They are just too tight and will not be worn. Wahhh! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cCn-6CWoSxg/U5c-IClVdnI/AAAAAAAACzs/jrfUYOkPTtY/s1600/IMG_4043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cCn-6CWoSxg/U5c-IClVdnI/AAAAAAAACzs/jrfUYOkPTtY/s1600/IMG_4043.JPG" height="640" width="624" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shorts #2</b></span><br />
Pattern: <a href="http://www.jalie.com/jalie3243-womens-pull-on-pants-sewing-patterns.html">Jalie 3243</a><br />
Size 10<br />
Fabric: Stretch woven from eon's ago that's been sitting in my stash for a very, very long time!<br />
<br />
Love the simple style of these shorts. Front pockets are awesome with the contrast facing. End result are they are too tight once again. <sigh> I didn't even hem them as when my dd tried them on she was already complaining. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cpgqnB6Cg5E/U5c-Ee5mbOI/AAAAAAAACzk/bN1lb6PhYGo/s1600/IMG_4040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cpgqnB6Cg5E/U5c-Ee5mbOI/AAAAAAAACzk/bN1lb6PhYGo/s1600/IMG_4040.JPG" height="640" width="616" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shorts #3</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Pattern: <a href="http://oliverands.com/free-patterns/sunny-day-shorts/">Sunny Day Shorts</a> (free PDF download)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Designer: Oliver + S</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Size: 10</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Fabric: Chez Ami cotton brushed twill</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I also sewed these up in a size 10 and guess what?? They are too big!! I didn't customize them and make any modifications to the pattern. At the point I was in, I just wanted to find a basic shorts pattern that fit well and then I would modify and change it up. The crotch depth is just too much and makes for a lot of excess fabric in the front crotch area. Jenelle was freaking out. It's an easy pattern alteration to do though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-urms4MP9C-A/U5c-BEseuqI/AAAAAAAACzc/bLM42gNiutI/s1600/IMG_4041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-urms4MP9C-A/U5c-BEseuqI/AAAAAAAACzc/bLM42gNiutI/s1600/IMG_4041.JPG" height="634" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shorts #4</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Pattern: <a href="http://kwiksew.mccall.com/k3498-products-20059.php?page_id=3348">KS 3498</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Size: Large</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Fabric: Chez Ami Cotton Lycra</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
These fit the best and Jenelle likes these a lot. Simple, comfy and cute. Finally a successful pair of shorts!! Whew!! I was getting discouraged and frusturated!</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-khfpufu4VtE/U5c97K3rVvI/AAAAAAAACzU/N3Jlprk2jbY/s1600/IMG_4039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-khfpufu4VtE/U5c97K3rVvI/AAAAAAAACzU/N3Jlprk2jbY/s1600/IMG_4039.JPG" height="640" width="442" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shorts #5</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pattern: <a href="file:///C:/Users/Mom's%20Laptop/Downloads/All_designs-1-2012.pdf">Modified Ottobre Spring 2012 Design #39</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Size: 146</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Fabric: Sweatshirt Fleece</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are my favorite of all!! I love them! The fit is perfect and they look great with the cover-stitching on the front pockets and the contrast binding. I love the eyelets with the drawstring too! But guess what??!! Jenelle hates them! Can you believe that!! (I sound like Bubba off the Forest Gump movie) LOL She says she hates front pockets and she abhors the fabric!!! :( </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lXQDazzcv7A/U5c-K4L2bWI/AAAAAAAACz0/rjMLzGZ0grI/s1600/IMG_4044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lXQDazzcv7A/U5c-K4L2bWI/AAAAAAAACz0/rjMLzGZ0grI/s1600/IMG_4044.JPG" height="640" width="590" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After all is said and done....I think I'll be making more of the Kwik Sew and the Ottobre shorts (minus the front pockets) and probably the jalie ones but in a bigger size. My little girl is quite fussy with her clothes so I'll be sure to pick fabrics with her before I sew the next pair! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time....Happy Sewing!!</div>

I used Michael Miller Patty Young Sanctuary Orchid Feng Shui Fabric that has been curing in my stash for far too long! I had a perfect match of solid pink for the contrast! The dress was so simply and fun to put together. I love the gathered bodice and the gathered cap sleeves are darling!</span></div>

I've been working hard the last few days organizing and straightening up my sewing studio. I love saying studio...makes it seem so professional. LOL Not sure if anyone remembers but going back a few years the TV reality show America's Got Talent had an audition of a woman singing, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uhmqPLwJy4">"I'll be in My Studio"</a> -- that song became my song when it came to sewing and my sewing space. Because of my passion and love for sewing I sang that song to my family. They think I'm crazy....by hey, they know where they'll find me...."I'll be in My Studio, Studio" LOL</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm sitting here laughing...now all the kids are singing, "I'll be in My Studio, Studio" -- it's such a catchy tune. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyhow, here is my Studio. I have a super small nook in our basement. It's 10.5 feet wide and 7 feet deep. I've made the space super functional and efficient. I have two over-head lights. Each fixture holds 3 bulbs and I use the daylight bulbs. I love, love the bright light it gives off!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CpUi6I6lSd8/UzW8x--bj4I/AAAAAAAAB8A/ncRf-V0Ggu0/s1600/IMG_3851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CpUi6I6lSd8/UzW8x--bj4I/AAAAAAAAB8A/ncRf-V0Ggu0/s1600/IMG_3851.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I bought a heavy-duty L-shaped office desk (7.5' x 7.5') to set all of my sewing machines one. The first machine is my stand-alone embroidery machine, then my main sewing machine, next are two sergers, and on the end is my cover-stitch machine. I love having my machines in line; my chair is on wheels so I literally wheel from machine to machine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iec3bGoovms/UzW867-tMiI/AAAAAAAAB8M/x6JdE1pNiT4/s1600/IMG_3855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iec3bGoovms/UzW867-tMiI/AAAAAAAAB8M/x6JdE1pNiT4/s1600/IMG_3855.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Inside my nook is a look at my small ironing station. I have everything I need to press while I sew. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4GisNnK8qcA/UzXE159KjNI/AAAAAAAAB-Q/_vqi8fsZJ6o/s1600/IMG_3829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4GisNnK8qcA/UzXE159KjNI/AAAAAAAAB-Q/_vqi8fsZJ6o/s1600/IMG_3829.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a view to the right of my studio. It's the only natural light I have coming in, so good over-head lighting was crucial when we set up my area. The only problem is....I get constantly reminded of my need to exercise!! Hmmm....should I sew or exercise???? It's hard to find that balance.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D3J5SGJlqxw/UzW9DALwOhI/AAAAAAAAB8U/3rCbw-cCnvo/s1600/IMG_3857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D3J5SGJlqxw/UzW9DALwOhI/AAAAAAAAB8U/3rCbw-cCnvo/s1600/IMG_3857.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am a crazy organizer and love organizing things -- especially sewing things. Here is how I've organized my thread. The tower to the left holds all my sewing machine thread. Each bin is colour coded for easy selection. To the right are two drawer units that hold my serger threads. Again, thread is grouped by colour. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GUg_IQS-D-o/UzW9Rx4qN2I/AAAAAAAAB8k/JJT6fwGigxM/s1600/IMG_3830.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GUg_IQS-D-o/UzW9Rx4qN2I/AAAAAAAAB8k/JJT6fwGigxM/s1600/IMG_3830.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I store my big three patterns quite similar. I take a copy of the pattern front and back and place them in plastic paper protector and place the patterns in applicable binder.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm very fortunate to be able to store all my fabric on shelves in a walk-in style closet just in front of my sewing studio. It's a tiny little room (4 1/2 feet x 4 1/2 feet), but its space is utilized to its full potential. LOL</div>

Hmmm....guess I'm procrastinating! I haven't started the Spring Clean and Purge yet. Oh well. I did sew though...so life is good! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After I made the <a href="http://cheryanncollections.blogspot.ca/2014/03/ottobre-denim-skirt.html">denim skirt </a>I knew I wanted to make a pretty top to go with it. I had bought this pattern the other day at <a href="http://fabriclandwest.com/">Fabricland</a> (Canadian version of Joanne's). My local store is discontinuing all Simplicity and New Look patterns. They had all of them stuffed into a wire revolving rack. I looked through most of them and found a few. I had wanted to buy the<a href="http://www.sewlisette.com/patterns/traveler"> Lisette Traveler Dress</a> for awhile now and was thrilled to see they had exactly ONE left!! Wahoo!! Even better I paid only $2.00 each for the pattern. Score!!</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyhow, I liked this Simplicity pattern and knew my oldest daughter would love it! </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xvF6tUaeYi0/Uyd7YnjX4kI/AAAAAAAAB6E/hOxDjjhrJto/s1600/Simplicity+1625.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xvF6tUaeYi0/Uyd7YnjX4kI/AAAAAAAAB6E/hOxDjjhrJto/s1600/Simplicity+1625.jpg" height="640" width="443" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I rummaged through my fabric stash and found a pretty cotton eyelet that had a nice drape. I made view C but added the tier to it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Funny how patterns work out....I sewed up the shorts in this pattern and they are a fitting disaster...they are HUGE and the rise is ridiculous!! So, for a $2.00 pattern the top is a success but the shorts = epic fail!! LOL</div>

What a crazy week it's been! Spring is officially here and my to-do lists have gone out of control! I have so much stuff that I want to do and get done. The house is in desperate need of painting. I need to get down and dirty and do a thorough Spring cleaning/purging throughout the whole house. I have exterior house painting that I wanted to do in the Fall but never got around to it. <sigh> I sometimes wish I could duplicate or even triplicate myself. The real me would sew all the time and the other me's would do everything else! LOL Wishful thinking!</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyhow, in spite of everything else beckoning me, I did sew a bit. I made my oldest daughter a denim skirt. It's from the<a href="https://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2012_1/All_designs-1-2012.pdf"> Ottobre Spring 2012</a> issue. Design #33 called Airmail Express denim skirt. Hmm...where does Ottobre come up with their names?? LOL I sewed up the size 170 and modified the waistband by adding 1.5" to it. . I then added 1/4" to each seam to accommodate the larger waistband. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It wasn't hard to sew but just took a lot time. Mind you I never got more than 5 minutes of uninterrupted time to sew. It probably would have sewn up quicker if I could have sewn without a million disruptions. :) </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I added octagon decorative snaps to each pocket. The prongs were not very long so I didn't use them on the skirt front. The denim was too thick, so I used some heavy-duty snaps that I bought for my KAM snap press.<br />
<br />
Each seam is double topstitched (sewing each line individually) with a thick heavy white cotton thread. It was a bit tedious as I had to change the needle and thread every time I needed to topstitch. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F27MghEoCD0/UyS9JT_jKGI/AAAAAAAAB4k/Ul1aQVy9YMc/s1600/IMG_3753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F27MghEoCD0/UyS9JT_jKGI/AAAAAAAAB4k/Ul1aQVy9YMc/s1600/IMG_3753.JPG" height="526" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the back of the skirt. I stitched turquoise bartacks on all the pockets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5icpM8R7ei8/UyS9PcdYbwI/AAAAAAAAB4w/Vn1Lo4MXkow/s1600/IMG_3754.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5icpM8R7ei8/UyS9PcdYbwI/AAAAAAAAB4w/Vn1Lo4MXkow/s1600/IMG_3754.JPG" height="544" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The skirt waistband and the the pockets are all lined with a pretty floral cotton. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All and all I'm happy and Ally is thrilled with her new skirt. I'm not sure when I'll be back with another sewing post, as I must tackle my to-do list. Hopefully sooner than later!! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time, Happy Sewing!!</div>

I know I had said I was going to sew up the Oliver + S Jump rope dress, but I ran into a problem. My older daughter, Miss. Ally was feeling rejected. I've been sewing mostly for Miss. Jenelle and well, poor Ally was feeling glum. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She picked out this fabric and asked for a tunic style top to wear with skinny jeans. Sewing for a tween (12 year old -- will be turning 13 years old this year) is challenging and I do feel a bit intimidated by it. I find sewing for younger kids easier. Guess it's because they never complain; wear what I make, and I pick fabrics and styles the majority of the time. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyhow, we got hit was another snow storm on Sunday morning. We hardly ever get snow! Living in the Pacific Northwest our winters are mostly rain, and then some more rain, mixed in with even more rain!! Anyhow, church was cancelled so I spent the day puttering in my sewing nook. We have a wonderful wood stove just by my sewing area so I was cozy and in sewing bliss! </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pattern is <a href="http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2009_1/index.html?en">Ottobre Spring 2009 </a> #35 the Kehra Tunic. Size 170. I used snaps instead of buttons. The snaps I used are some pearl purplish/grayish ones I had bought eon's ago from fabricland. I have a<a href="http://www.kamsnaps.com/snap-setters/table-top-presses/dk98-professional-kam-snap-press-p326.html"> KAM heavy duty snap press </a>which makes putting on snaps a breeze! Fabric is a fine wale corduroy. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to show you this. When I was contemplating about starting up a blog I was trying to figure out what I would call it. I came up with Cheryann Collections. I then thought, wouldn't it be cool if I got my own Clothing tags made up with my blog name - Cheryann Collections! I designed and ordered them from <a href="http://misslabel.com/label/pages/home.cfm">Miss. Label. </a> They were super speedy and awesome to work with. I love how it looks with my own label and size tag in the garments I make. Like I said, I get a big 'ol grin whenever I look. LOL</div>

So ya, I made another outfit for my sweet Jenelle. I love making clothes for her. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The top is the <a href="http://www.citronille.fr/produit.php?id_produit=104#pid_104">Citronille Solveig pattern.</a> I used some fabric that has been curing in my stash for years. I love the daintiness of the print. I sewed up the size 8 and fit is good. I like the square neckline. I placed the placket on the outside as that is my preference. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_mzHey9gpdg/UwvMBv5zpKI/AAAAAAAABxg/gCa1pOOpGgc/s1600/IMG_3697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_mzHey9gpdg/UwvMBv5zpKI/AAAAAAAABxg/gCa1pOOpGgc/s1600/IMG_3697.JPG" height="640" width="570" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I just love the arrow point of the placket. Makes me smile!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6eDG1rq410k/UwvOBjcvP1I/AAAAAAAAByU/V-DH1el-Exs/s1600/IMG_3685.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6eDG1rq410k/UwvOBjcvP1I/AAAAAAAAByU/V-DH1el-Exs/s1600/IMG_3685.JPG" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the skirt I used the<a href="http://oliverands.com/oliver-and-s-patterns-skirts/OLV-OS020HSD.html"> Oliver + S Hopscotch skirt pattern</a>. I used a fine wale turquoise corduroy fabric. It matches the bits of turquoise in the blouse.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IZ0w31kD_Ko/UwvMMELjzPI/AAAAAAAABxw/Ub7xmsXax58/s1600/IMG_3689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IZ0w31kD_Ko/UwvMMELjzPI/AAAAAAAABxw/Ub7xmsXax58/s1600/IMG_3689.JPG" height="452" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love the vintage look of the skirt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is my precious modelling it. (hmmm....I sound like Smeagol (Gollum) from Lord of the Rings). LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hAhEaLXj_9c/UwvMQvN6YPI/AAAAAAAABx4/LTml8WIBA74/s1600/IMG_3695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hAhEaLXj_9c/UwvMQvN6YPI/AAAAAAAABx4/LTml8WIBA74/s1600/IMG_3695.JPG" height="640" width="260" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-so91Ou8tP1Q/UwvMTpsEt-I/AAAAAAAAByA/iD-2RwkA6yM/s1600/IMG_3706.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-so91Ou8tP1Q/UwvMTpsEt-I/AAAAAAAAByA/iD-2RwkA6yM/s1600/IMG_3706.JPG" height="640" width="306" /></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All in all I'm happy with her new outfit. Next on the list is the Oliver + S Jump Rope Dress. I've got a lot of bookkeeping to get caught up on though first. <sigh> Wish I could spend all my time in my sewing nook. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Until next time, happy sewing!! </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My 12 year old daughter came to me on Tuesday after school and said, "Hey Mom, my class at school is hosting a surprise baby shower for our teacher on Thursday. Could you sew me two sleepers to give as a gift?" I had a meeting to attend Tuesday night but I managed to whip these up yesterday (Wednesday).</div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had so much fun making these. There is nothing like sewing up bitty baby clothes. Seriously makes me (almost) want another wee one. I said almost! LOL </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3yaClFyQaKM/UwZTsTZcN8I/AAAAAAAABuQ/j_AEKCzFYpI/s1600/IMG_3649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3yaClFyQaKM/UwZTsTZcN8I/AAAAAAAABuQ/j_AEKCzFYpI/s1600/IMG_3649.JPG" height="574" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pattern used is <a href="http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2005_3/index.html?en">Ottobre Autumn 2005 issue</a>, design #2. Size 56 (newborn). I've made this sleeper for my own babies. I love sleepers with front zippers. Makes for easy and quick diaper changes. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had to make these gender neutral -- though I do think they look very boyish to me. Fabric is a soft cotton interlock. Love the farm animal print. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This sleeper is sewn up in a cozy white velour with green accents. It's so soft and cuddly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NhbMWKmT8bA/UwZTgV3qtlI/AAAAAAAABt8/2Oycl39iZ8o/s1600/IMG_3648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NhbMWKmT8bA/UwZTgV3qtlI/AAAAAAAABt8/2Oycl39iZ8o/s1600/IMG_3648.JPG" height="640" width="408" /></a></div>
<br />
I love this embroidery applique from<a href="https://www.swakembroidery.com/info/featured-products/SWAK_afk_PeasInAPodApp_3Sizes.htm"> Swak Embroidery. </a> So cute and stitched out beautifully! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope her teacher likes the sleepers. </div>
<div class="separator" id="ssnoshadow" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I made a comfy Valentine knit tunic for my little girl. I love this heart cotton interlock knit. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I wanted something that was comfy, easy to wear, easy to play in and looked cute. I came up with this. Simple and sweet. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used <a href="http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2012_4/index.html?en">Ottobre Autumn 2012</a> design # 28. A simple long-sleeved t-shirt. I took off 2" from the bottom and added a 6" ruffle. I love this style of tunic. I then made up some simple cotton/lycra leggings to go with the top. Again, I used <a href="http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2009_1/index.html?en">Ottobre Spring 2009</a> for the leggings pattern. Super quick and simple to make. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Here is the outfit modeled on one happy little girl! Happy Valentine's Day everyone!</div>

Meet Maggie....Maggie the Magnificent. A <a href="http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/Machines/Sewing-Quilting/Horizon_MC8900">Janome Horizon 8900 QCP </a> She's a true beauty!!
My fleet of machines are almost all Janome, though I do own a Babylock cover-stitcher which I love too. My Janome machines have been excellent and I'd never deter anyone from buying one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0Qh4cFS0x7E/Uvl_fOGg8BI/AAAAAAAABsw/Stf0GszE0ms/s1600/IMG_3621+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0Qh4cFS0x7E/Uvl_fOGg8BI/AAAAAAAABsw/Stf0GszE0ms/s1600/IMG_3621+(2).jpg" height="512" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
This new delightful baby has a lot of cool features. Comes with 270 stitches with 9mm stitch width. It has a huge 11" free-arm work space which is awesome for quilters. I love the 7-piece feed dogs which will be awesome for feeding a bunch of different fabrics through. Has a cool automatic thread cutter...love that as it cuts both threads and brings them to the back. There are 11 different types of buttonholes and even three alphabets. Oh and the foot control pedal is HUGE!! Love that...no more slipping away. Bliss -- pure bliss!!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yC8I2-AP_WM/Uvl_czG20YI/AAAAAAAABss/Uao7jCKlve8/s1600/IMG_3623+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yC8I2-AP_WM/Uvl_czG20YI/AAAAAAAABss/Uao7jCKlve8/s1600/IMG_3623+%25282%2529.jpg" height="496" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I was sewing on a Janome 9000 computerized sewing and embroidery machine. She has been a good and faithful machine and has sewn a ton for me. I have no complaints but just needed something a little more heavy duty. A machine that can sew through thick, lumpy layers and Maggie fits the bill!!! Bar tacks on jeans with no lugging or jamming, buttonholes through heavy thick fabrics -- Maggie the Magnificent will tackle it...no problem!! I tested her on some pretty extreme challenges and she conquered them beautifully!! I'm quite pleased and am sporting a full-time perma-grin!<br />
<br />
Happy Sewing!<br />

I didn't realize how old it was til I read the date stamp on the selvage edge of the fabric. It read 2002. Really?? Have I seriously held on to this fabric for 12 odd years??? Guess it was about time to sew it up!! I'm glad I did because I love how this outfit turned out!<br />
<br />
I used the Ottobre Rousku blouse pattern again. (From the Fall 2010 issue). I up-sized it to 140 and added a bit more depth to the sleeve cap. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KAHNp87_V00/UvP9LJ3FFtI/AAAAAAAABqQ/W12jRHizxVU/s1600/IMG_3579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KAHNp87_V00/UvP9LJ3FFtI/AAAAAAAABqQ/W12jRHizxVU/s1600/IMG_3579.JPG" height="582" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1saccnH73rk/UvP9MMqkNGI/AAAAAAAABqY/MpXfIEo9bS8/s1600/IMG_3595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1saccnH73rk/UvP9MMqkNGI/AAAAAAAABqY/MpXfIEo9bS8/s1600/IMG_3595.JPG" height="578" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I seem a bit placket obessed! I love the look of plackets. I was pleased with getting the cute little cowboy centered on the placket here. Yeah!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wG4pD738VkI/UvP-Sqbe5wI/AAAAAAAABqk/XGP4-6hWMGg/s1600/IMG_3589.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wG4pD738VkI/UvP-Sqbe5wI/AAAAAAAABqk/XGP4-6hWMGg/s1600/IMG_3589.JPG" height="640" width="364" /></a></div>
<br />
I thought a pleated corduory skirt would go perfectly with the blouse. So I sewed up the Ottobre Jenkka skirt (Winter 2012 issue). It's such a cute skirt with a narrow waistband and an invisible side zipper. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OT1OSxegemc/UvP-TTPAYpI/AAAAAAAABqs/g18Td-94WhE/s1600/IMG_3577.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OT1OSxegemc/UvP-TTPAYpI/AAAAAAAABqs/g18Td-94WhE/s1600/IMG_3577.JPG" height="578" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The photo above is a bit washed out. The corduroy is much richer in real life.<br />
<br />

This feels pretty cool! I'm excited to be starting on this little blogging adventure.<br />
<br />
I made three blouses for my youngest daughter. I love the look of tunic style blouses on little girls. Gives a sort of nostalgic look in today's modern age. <br />
<br />
The first blouse is a <a href="http://www.citronille.fr/produit.php?id_produit=1365#pid_1365">Citronille Gretel</a> pattern. I love the vintage look. The pattern is in french but does give detailed pictures of the whole sewing process. I didn't like the way they did the placket. They have you sew the placket to the inside of the blouse. I prefer the placket to be placed on the outside of the blouse. <br />
<br />
Once the blouse was made I knew it was going to be too big on my daughter. I had her try it on we both burst out laughing. She looked like was wearing an 1800's men's sleep shirt! I kept seeing Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol in his nightshirt! Needless to say, I knew I had to take in the fullness. I added a drawstring waistband and am very pleased with the results. <br />

<span style="text-align: left;">The next blouse I made is one of my favorite </span><a href="http://www.ottobredesign.com/en/" style="text-align: left;">Ottobre</a><span style="text-align: left;"> patterns. I've sewn this blouse in smaller sizes and absolutely adore the look. This particular pattern only goes up to a size 128. I knew the size 128 may be too small but went ahead and sewed it up anyways. I used a cotton that had been sitting in my stash for quite aw</span><span style="text-align: left;">hile.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Unfortunately, the above blouse is too small. Because I love the style of this blouse, I took my pattern and up-sized it 2 sizes bigger. I used a cotton print I had bought from a co-op a few years ago. The blouse below fits great but is a tad snug around the arms. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm going to sew up another blouse in a cute Alexander Henry fabric that's been curing in my stash for a very long time! I plan to modify the sleeves to make them a bit fuller around the arm scythe. Hopefully the fit will be perfect!</div>
